Preschool @ Ms. Julie's house Wed. Sept. 29th

Another fun day at school!  Kailia was our Flag holder, good job!  The kids know to put their hands over their hearts and only repeat a word here and there but they will get the hang of it. Malachi was our weatherman, again we were all happy for another Sunny day.;)

Our focus today was Squares.  We talked about various items that are square shaped and had each child share a little about what square item they brought.

I gave each child a square sewing card.  They really took their time lacing the wholes and then asked me to undo them so they could sew them again.  It's interesting how some things can really keep their attention while others don't.

We then went to the table to make Square Robots, we cut and pasted square shapes for the bodies and then added google eyes and different foam shapes for buttons. They really got into the foam stickers.

They then played outside while I cleaned up and got snack time ready.  At the kids request Uncle Mark did bubbles with them again and they jumped on the trampoline.

For snack time Aisa was our helper today and he was such a gentleman passing out a bowl to each of them. They sure remember which helper they are even when I can't! ;)  We had square peanut butter crackers, cubes of cheese, grapes (I know they are not square but went well with the cheese) and lemonade.

After snack time we talked about the number 2 and watched a clip from classic Sesame Street "Toucan Two Step".  They were so cute dancing along with the clip. They can really move! :)

We also counted and talked about having 2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 hands and 2 feet.  For our art project we made sack puppets and the kids glued on 2 of each body part.

We then sang songs about 2.  2 little speckled frogs and 2 little monkeys teasing Mr Alligator.  We used the puppets from the FunBox, they were adorable and the kids had a blast!!  I wish I had taken a picture of the kids sing the songs, they really loved taking turns being the alligator and snatching the monkeys up.

Kuulei brought fruit snacks to share, so they sat pretty still and ate them while I read a story (Thanks, Kuulei).  Then their parents showed up and it was time to go.

Well it was another great day at school,  Kailia had fun having everyone come to her house. Can't wait until next week!

Preschool @ Ms. Julie's House Mon. Sept. 27th 2010

Everyone was so excited today and maybe because it was a different house this time it took a little while to get everyone on their place mate with their picture and ready to go.  Alema was the flag helper and did a great job.  Alema was our weather man for the day and we were happy to see the sun was out, hooray!

Today we learned about the Letter B.  We watched a short clip from old classic Sesame Street "B is for bubble"  I asked the kids to listen carefully and try to figure out which letter we were going to talk about today.  Alema got it right off! We talked about the sound B makes and the different things that start with the letter B. With some of  the different items we sang songs that matched, like the Bubble song, Bringing home a baby bumble bee and Teddy bear, teddy bear touch the ground, we ended with the Wheels on the bus (I explained that there would be a special surprise later). ;)  We passed out the chalk boards and practiced writing the letter B, well sort of.  They loved drawing on the chalk boards anyway.

Next we did a rather messy science project, Paint bubble art.  It was worth it though, they had so much fun!  Ms Julie and Ms.Cici (my sister-in-law) were just glad no one sucked the liquid up the straw rather than just blowing.

The Kids then went outside to blow bubbles with Uncle Mark while I cleaned up and got snack time ready.

Aisa enjoyed some air time while the others blew bubbles, what fun!!!
We then had snack time of Bananas, Chocolate Teddy Grahams (Bears) and Berry Milk (Strawberry Quik instead of chocolate.)  Delicious!! ;)  Kuulei was a very good snack helper.

We then did some bead art work.  We used pipe cleaners and colorful beads to make Butterflies.

Then there was a knock at the door, our SURPRISE was finally here!  The kids all went out front to see the School Bus.

They all got to climb in and have a seat.  Alema and Kailia were a little hesitant but ended up having fun too.

Uncle David was able to show the kids how the doors open and shut, they got to lookout all the windows and even blow the horn.  Uncle David showed them how the lift works to help handicapped children with wheel chairs get on the bus.

Good-bye Uncle David, Thank you for showing us the bus! :)

We then got all our stuff ready to go home and we read a couple of books while we waited for our moms to come.  Then they wanted to dance, so we danced to "Baby, baby, baby ohhhh"  by Justin Bieber.  Boy, can they dance!!

What a great day at preschool, can't wait til Wednesday!

Today was Super Fun!

We started off with our daily routine, I did change the way we start, I think it keeps their attention longer, so they started off with organized playtime with blocks and did a great job working together to put it away.  Afterwhich, I had them find their placemats and their pictures, and than take a seat on the floor.  We sang our welcome song and they held their pictures until their name was called during the song and they quickly found their place on the Helpers chart and pinned it on. I than asked them all who was doing what (this worked so much better than getting them lined up)  Malachi was our Flag Holder today and did a great job waving it back and forth.  The kids, tried their best to keep up with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Kuulei was the Weather Helper, Everyone wanted to turn the arrow, but Kuulei was pretty firm about her being the weather helper.

I than introduced the color green, I brought a huge green bag full of green stuff, each 2 turns to pick an item out the bag and everyone had to show me where the green was on the item.  Kailia was my bag monitor, telling everyone, "not your turn".  After that I dumped out a bucket full of all kinds of blocks, legos and tiny toys and the kids were instructed to only pull out the green items and put them on the green paper.  Aisa, Malachi and Alema, were trying their very best not to get distracted by all the other cool stuff in my tote, (lol) they'd pick up a blue car and than look at me and say oh sorry thats not green and throw it back in the pile.

We talked about the #1 and played a short game of Pam Says, and I had them do things like, stand on one foot, cover 1 eye, touch one ear etc.  They were all silly doing this activity, I wish I had a photographer just taking shots while we do our activities because these guys are so funny and have so much personality, they make me laugh all throughout class.

We then went outside and had a hop on leg race, they all ended up just running, except for alema he decided he wanted to hop like a frog and hopped all the way to the end.  We practiced writing #1 or lines with chalk on my driveway! Thank goodness the weather was good when we out.  Lastly, I had them go on a mini scavenger hunt, to find a blade of grass, a green leaf and a green rock.

We came in the house to paste our finds on their sheets of paper!!!

Kailia was my snack helper, she helped me pass out all the paper plates.  we had fruit loops, I asked them to eat all the green ones first, cookies and grapes and juice.

We worked on our final craft which was make our #1 green books, I had to work with them individually on this, so the rest of them had free play in Kuulei and Siale's room in the meanwhile.  We did not have enough time to write #1's on each page so if you guys would like to work with them on this.

Singing time was short due to time, I guess I have to work on my timing, on paper it looks like I have enough time for my crafts and activities, shucks!  Next time around I will get a story in.

Well everyone, this is what we did today!!!  They all were wonderful, and I loved working with them this week.  Kuulei is excited to have school at Mrs. Julie's house next week.

Thanks for dressing your kids in green, and bringing your items for our book.
