*sorry no pics for this day*
We started with playdough til everyone arrived. We did the normal circle time routine and it amazes me how much they've learned the songs & pledge of allegiance each time they come back to my house. I luv it!! After circle time, I introduced them to the letter of the week: M. we first practiced writing the letter M in the air with our fingers. Then we had fun making the M sound mmmmmmmmmmmm. I had pictures cut out of different things and they had to tell me which ones started with M. And with each M picture we would say out loud "M for milk" "M for matches" etc...i then asked which one of your names starts with M? and Malachi immediately said, "ME! M for Malachi" and that was the saying for the day. We then went in to doing the theme of M for Mail. We talked about mail: and how mail works. We looked out the window at my mailbox. They all said they get to check their mail at home once in a while. Then it was craft time. They had to glue together a picture of the mailbox on Blues Clues. Its funny how they'd rather use the glue stick to 'color' their picture lol. Then for snack they had alphabet cookies & apples. They got a kick at trying to find letter Ms in their pile of cookies. After snack it was almost time to go home so they played toys til mommies came :)
1/19/11 - Rectangle
Again, we started with playdough til everyone arrived then we did circle time.
After circle time we played pin the flag on the mailbox. (like pin the tail on the donkey)
Malachi was so funny when i put the blindfold on he said, "Hey who turned the lights off in here" lol too cute :)

They did very well don't you think?
At the end of pin the flag on the mailbox they all had ants in their pants so we played another game where they lined up ....
and I asked "Which one of you has Big Bird/Flowers (etc) on your placemat?" and that person would answer then sit on their placemat. (sidenote: just thought of another way we could try playing this game: asking which one of you has a blue/yellow placemat to practice colors)
They were ready to learn & listen after the placemat game :)
I showed them a mailbox i made and they were excited to look inside at the mail that was in it.
They took turns checking the mail and.......
giving the mail to whoevers name was on it.
Then it was time to open their mail and they were so excited to see what was in it. (wait til they start getting bills...lol)
Alema was the first to open his mail, "SHAPES AUNTY ITS SHAPES!!!"
I introduced them to our shape of the day RECTANGLE by showing them the rectangle on the shape chart. Then they had to go through their shapes, pick out the RECTANGLES and put them back into the mailbox. They had alot of fun doing this :) After they got done sorting through their shapes. We looked for rectangles in auntys house. They pointed to the picture frames, the TV.....
and most of their placemats were rectangles, too.
We then headed to the table and colored our itsy bitsy rectangle books.

It was snack time & they loved the alphabet cookied they had the day before so they had that and again they had fun looking for letter Ms.
After snack we played another fun game to review our letter & shape of the week (so sorry i didn't do #3 oops)
Unko Raymond put tape on the floor of the letter M & a rectangle so we could have some fun while reviewing the letter & shape of the week. (sorry i didn't do the #3 oops)
First they had fun by doing this.....

then this....lol...these guys are way too much fun :)
Then they played musical M/Rectangle. Its just like musical chairs. We played music and whoever landed on the X on either the M or the rectangle, won! They liked walking around the rectangle as you can tell by the pictures :)

Aisa & I had so much fun having everyone over. Thanks for all ya'll do for FunBox. Learning is FUN :)
